Bargteheide, Germany, 2008-10-21 NORD has extended its SK 5xxE line of frequency inverters by new size 5 and 6 models. Thereby, new performance ranges have been added: in addition to the former 0.25 to 7.5 range, users can now also choose inverters up to 22 kW.

Bargteheide – NORD has extended its SK 5xxE line of frequency inverters by new size 5 and 6 models. Thereby, new performance ranges have been added: in addition to the former 0.25 to 7.5 range, users can now also choose inverters up to 22 kW. The SK 5xxE line’s various models with an incremental increase in functionality allow users to design ideally adapted, cost-efficient drive solutions. The easy-to-use units are suitable for all standard bus systems. All models offer user-friendly, standardized configuration and parameterization.

The inverters up to 7.5 kW are available as SK 500E, 510E, 520E and 530E models. In 11 kW and beyond models, there are SK 515E and SK 535E types which, while featuring the same functions as the aforementioned base types, come with extended features at a great price/performance ratio.

All inverters share basic functions, such as brake management and a brake chopper, a PID and process controller and an automatic magnetization adjust-ment option which can considerably reduce power consumption depending on the application. Specific models have extra functions: The SK 515E in the new sizes 5 and 6, for instance, features the safety function “Safe Stop” according to EN 954-1 and an integrated CANopen interface. The SK 535E comes with an additional encoder input and the POSICON position controller, which allows users to implement a relative or absolute position control. The SK 515E and the SK 535E are equipped with an external 24 V supply for the control card, which allows for special functions such as emergency evacuation of elevators and increases the online availability. Many inverters are also available as cold plate versions or with a cooling element outside of the enclosure (through-hole technology).
