Cranes
Drive Solutions for Cranes
Cranes are used for the horizontal and vertical movement of loads, i.e. the crane operates in at least two different directions. The drives are electric. Gearboxes with
asynchronous motors
and
frequency inverters
are used as standard. However, pole-changing asynchronous motors are also still used in parts of the world. Cranes are used in a wide variety of industries. Depending on the industry, the requirements for positioning, start-up and smooth travel for superimposed crane and trolley travel as well as braking processes also increase. Depending on the standard used, this results in the highest demands on the drive systems used. NORD has worldwide experience in the most common standards (Europe: FEM 1.001, FEM 9.511, DIN EN 13135, 15011 and 13001-2; North America: CMAA 70, 74 and ASME-B30.2, B30.3, B30.16, B30.24; India: IS 3177, 4137).
