In baggage handling, suitcases, bags and backpacks of varying weight must be transported over rather long distances at irregular intervals – ideally as fast and energy-saving as possible. This task is mainly performed by belt and tray conveyors.

Belt conveyors enable economical transport of large, bulky materials over long distances at high speeds.
Belt conveyors are often in continuous operation and therefore require drive solutions that are as energy efficient as possible. Based on our IE5+ synchronous motor and our patented DuoDrive geared motor, we implement future-proof drive concepts with optimised system efficiency, high power density and space-saving design. Our drive solutions for belt conveyors achieve their constantly high efficiency over a wide torque range, making it optimally suitable for economical operation in the partial load and speed range.
Tray conveyors consist of two narrow belts on which the baggage items are transported in flat, rectangular containers – also known as trays or tubs. As they do not require a conveyor belt, they run more easily and achieve higher speeds than belt conveyors. Geared motors with brakes are therefore a must, as is energy-saving operation. Stand-alone motors are also often used.
