MAXXDRIVE industrial gear units from NORD DRIVESYSTEMS are built to handle a wide range of heavy-duty industrial applications in sectors such as agribusiness, wastewater, bulk material handling, and steel production. There are four different models in the product family including parallel and right-angle shaft designs that reliably drive bucket elevators, agitators, mixers, drums, mills, cranes, and more. These industrial drives are characterized by high output torques up to 2,495,900 lb-in, extensive input options and mounting designs, and robust UNICASE™ housings that ensure excellent load capacity, long service life, longer bearing life, and quiet operation. MAXXDRIVE units additionally offer many add-on modules for high versatility, as well as added safety measures to protect operators and equipment.

Standard, compact MAXXDRIVE industrial gear units include MAXXDRIVE parallel industrial gear units and MAXXDRIVE right-angle industrial gear units. Parallel units have 11 case sizes to choose from and offer a torque range up to 2,495,900 lb-in, performance up to 8,075 hp, and 2- or 3-stage gearing options. Right-angle units also have 11 case sizes available but in 3- and 4-stage gear reductions with output torque up to 2,301,200 lb-in and performance up to 2,850 hp. Both housing designs feature large roller bearings and center distances that increase load capacity and service life of components, enabling systems to operate effectively. For applications such as agitators or mixers that require increased bearing load capacities and additional oil leak protective measures, a dry cavity and spread bearing design with reinforced output bearings is available. Various sealing options as well as cooling and heating options allow for flexible temperature management and implementation in environments with fluctuating ambient conditions.

For crane and hoist applications, NORD developed specialized MAXXDRIVE XD parallel industrial gear units. These drives deliver torque up to 2,495,900 lb-in, performance up to 8,075 hp, and are available in 3- and 4-stage reductions that have identical housings for standardization and variant reduction. Compared to the compact MAXXDRIVE series, these units feature a center distance increased by 35%, allowing maximum space for the motor and rope drum to be on the same side of the gearbox in a unique U-shaped arrangement ideal for lifting. The housings are built according to the UNICASE design principle and are FEA-optimized for overhung load, especially downwards forces, and include an inspection cover on top of the unit for easy maintenance and service access.

MAXXDRIVE XT industrial gear units are ideal for high-speed applications requiring significant thermal ratings. These 2-stage, right-angle gear units feature a finned housing design that helps dissipate heat faster while an axial fan and air guide covers enhance airflow to prevent the unit from overheating, even at maximum power. These effective cooling abilities make them a reliable, robust solution in environments with demanding ambient conditions and large temperature fluctuations. MAXXDRIVE XT gear units offer 7 case sizes available to choose from with torque output up to 663,800 lb-in and performance up to 2,825 hp. The right-angle design additionally enables a symmetrical configuration for mirror image installations with space constraints and can also be mounted with a motor on a swing base for certain applications.

In addition to standard configuration options, NORD also offers add-ons such as their Endurance Package that consists of a comprehensive set of protective measures that optimize performance, maintain reliability, and extend longevity of drive components in harsh environments, such as the Grain Industry. The five main features of the package include a drying agent filter, oil sampling point, quick fit filter trolley connection, oil inspection glass, and an additional quick fit filter trolley connection with an oil drain cock. Configured specifically to meet the demands of the grain sector, this package combines multiple options into one convenient solution.
