NORD delivers drives for dewatering screw presses
Gear motors from NORD DRIVESYSTEMS help Vincent Corporation put the squeeze on… well, almost everything.
Brampton, ON, 2024-11-14
Vincent Corporation, a manufacturing and engineering company based in Tampa, FL (USA), has partnered with NORD DRIVESYSTEMS to power their dewatering screw press systems. The company specializes in dewatering and screw press applications, including – but not limited to – cooking oil recovery, plastics recycling, and pulp & paper.
From Dairy Feed to Orange Peels
Before specializing in dewatering, Vincent Corp. began as a company making cattle feed using dried orange peel. However, Dan Vincent, owner of Vincent Corp, realized he could get more moisture out of the peel faster by putting it through what is now known as a dewatering screw press.
Thousands of Presses Later
Today, Vincent Corp. employs 60 people at its 30,000-square-foot facility, where it manufactures four standard product lines—the original VP Series, the newer CP Series, KP Series, and the twin-screw TSP Series. They also manufacture a host of other accessories, making it easy to adapt any dewatering press to meet customer requirements.
Significant Force
Though the materials used in a dewatering press can be soft, the forces needed are significant. NORD’s MAXXDRIVE parallel shaft industrial gear units and UNICASE parallel shaft gear units create the necessary force for success, no matter the application.
Still Delivering
Bob Johnston, Engineering Manager at Vincent Corp, said about a heavy-duty bearing option, “That gear drive unit not only supports the high axial thrust loads we encounter in dewatering applications, it also lets us crank up the motor speeds much higher than any other unit we’ve tried. This lets us increase capacity without the hassle of spec'ing out a different drive, or try different settings to optimize the unit's output, or adjust it to solve a specific problem. I’ve also found that the NORD units are quite compact, which helps in not-uncommon situations where there are space constraints. Lastly, there’s durability. As I stated earlier, we sell dewatering systems all over the world, often in places where service is nonexistent, and in all the years we’ve been using them, I can't honestly think of a single failure with a NORD gear drive."
